this series is an experimentation of the relationship between form and materiality.  i wanted to combine the fragility of origami with the heaviness and solidity presented by the texture of concrete. 
 
since i was trying to limit myself to basic mediums for the project, only a single can of spray paint and sheets of multipurpose printer paper were used. 
 
an alternate version of the rose was created in which i folded a concrete sheet, but the tactile layers would fall off during the process. thus, the surfaces were coated after the folds were made to ensure that the overall forms are properly presented.
